Taking life-saving care to a whole new level, Fitzpatrick Referrals is the last-chance saloon for Britain's most sick and injured pets. With two hundred new cases every month, from rabbits with broken legs to dogs with cancer, Fitzpatrick Referrals is one of the biggest and best veterinary hospitals in the world. Every animal emergency has a deeply human subtext. Charismatic and witty surgeon Noel Fitzpatrick leads a team of 100 nurses, physiotherapists and hydro-therapists. With multiple operating theatres, a rehabilitation pool and a radiology department, the level of care would satisfy human patients. The Supervet follows Noel and his team over several months. From French bulldogs being taught to walk again to a dog being given wolverine-style metal rods in its leg, this series is full of the most unusual veterinary cases and plenty of joyful owners who'd been told to give up hope.
Zodiak Rights will launch a brand new 4 x 60’ series of The Supervet at MIPCOM: The Supervet – Bionic Specials, produced by Blast! Films for Channel 4. These four hour-long specials explore the revolution in bioengineering and regenerative medicine behind Professor Noel Fitzpatrick’s pioneering veterinary procedures.
Transforming the lives - and life chances - of much-loved pets, Noel’s cutting-edge techniques don’t come from veterinary textbooks. Each new challenge requires an innovative solution. For the first time in the history of The Supervet, we delve deeper into the science behind these extraordinary procedures. The four themed episodes focus on: joint surgery (including 3D-printed implants), limb salvage (including endo- and exo-prostheses), spinal surgery (including disc replacement and spinal fusion), and regenerative medicine (including stem cells, scaffolds and unloading osteotomies). We visit a cancer research centre and the factory that builds the prostheses, as well as meeting more people who love their animals and animals who love their families.
