The Two Faces of Auschwitz
1 x 60'

World-renowned filmmaker William Karel recounts life in Auschwitz in 1944 through two recently discovered photo albums

This film tells the intertwined stories of two photograph albums. One album was found by young camp survivor Lili Jacob, which relates the arrival of a convoy of Hungarian Jews in Auschwitz in May 1944. The pictures show the few hours preceding the murder of most of them in the gas chambers.
The other was recovered in 2007 from Officer Karl Höcker, and contains photographs taken the exact same month of May 1944 depicting the moments of leisure that Höcker and other SS officers responsible for the Auschwitz camp enjoyed together in the vicinity of the camp.
